EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO CUT A WIDER TRENCH
You need a wider trench? RDP can help you do just that. When changing a trencher chain to a wider cut there are a few things you will need to do. First, let me say that bolted on chains are the only chains you can change.
To trencher a wider cut takes adapters, hardware, and extra side mounts. If you are making a trench over 2″ wider then you have now, it is recommended that you gradually spread out the desired width. Meaning, if you have a 6″cut and go to 10″ cut, you will need a 8″ adapter as well to put in between, the 6″ and the 10″ adapters. RDP can set you up with kits that are assembled for you. Getting the correct pattern is important for the life of the chain. Making a trencher chain wider is added stress to the chain. Getting the correct adapters and placing them on the chain correctly is the key to having a chain that will not jump, break, or have excessive wear.
