What Is The Pitch Of A Chain?
The pitch of the chain is the center to center measurement of the chain pins (see fig at right)
Following is the pitch by manufacturer:

What Is The Styles Of Chain?
1. Standard chain (aka 4 pitch space chain), has 1 tooth attachment side plate for every 4 chain pins.
Use this chain in wet, sticky digging conditions such as; light to heavy loams, loamy clays, gumbo and other soils that contain moisture. Can be used in medium soils and clays.
Double Standard Chain (Aka 2 Pitch Space Chain Or Frost Chain).
Has 1 tooth attachment side plate for every 2 chain pins.
Use in soft & sandy soils, loose sand, sandy soil, loams, silt. Use in medium soils & clays and rocky soils as well.
How Long is a Chain?
The length of the chain is determined by
1. The number of tooth attachment side plates.
2. Or counting the number of chain pins and divide by 2.
