What Is The Pitch Of A Chain?

The pitch of the chain is the center to center measurement of the chain pins (see fig at right)
Following is the pitch by manufacturer:

What Is The Styles Of Chain?

1. Standard chain (aka 4 pitch space chain), has 1 tooth attachment side plate for every 4 chain pins.

Use this chain in wet, sticky digging conditions such as; light to heavy loams, loamy clays, gumbo and other soils that contain moisture. Can be used in medium soils and clays.

Double Standard Chain (Aka 2 Pitch Space Chain Or Frost Chain).

Has 1 tooth attachment side plate for every 2 chain pins.

Use in soft & sandy soils, loose sand, sandy soil, loams, silt. Use in medium soils & clays and rocky soils as well.

STANDARD CHAIN CUP TOOTH CHAIN

STANDARD CHAIN 2
STANDARD TRENCHER CHAIN.
1.654 pitch with 4 pitch spacing. Use in the easiest digging conditions such as sand, sandy loam, loose shale, loose soil, and sticky clay.  The cup teeth placed on every other station allows the wet soil to fall off of the chain which can lead to a buildup of material on the chain, reducing its cutting efficiency and increasing the risk of jamming.

DOUBLE STANDARD CUP TOOTH CHAIN

2 PITCH CUP DOUBLE STANDARD CUP TOOTH CHAIN 6 CUT
LOW-COST DOUBLE STANDARD trencher chain.
Our cup tooth chain is assembled with double hard-faced cup- shaped teeth that work like a scop as they clean out the trench.   These chains are best for trenching sand, sandy loam, loose shale, loose soil, caliche, and clay.
The cup teeth are also used on the 50/50 chains.  These are the chains that contain carbide on them as well as cup teeth.  By having the cup teeth and the carbide teeth allows for a chain that can cut thru the more compacted and rocky soils as the cup teeth help clean the trench and move the soil away from the trencher.

50/50 COMBO CHAIN

(CARBIDE TIPPED BULLET BITS & CUP TOOTH)

UT20006M04
This 50/50 chain configuration allows for trenching in almost any type of ground. The carbide tipped replaceable bullet bits are bolted to the chain and used to fracture the rock and break it apart.
The cup teeth follow to clean the trench. Highest production on loose dirt, medium and hard rocky soil.

PITCH 50/50 COMBO CHAIN

(CARBIDE TIPPED SHARK TEETH & CUP TOOTH)

1.654 PITCH 5050 COMBO SHARK CHAIN 4 CUT
This 50/50 cup and shark tooth chain allows for trenching in almost any type of ground. The non-replaceable shark tooth will outlast the chain. The cup teeth follow the shark tooth to clean the trench. Use on loose dirt, medium and hard rocky soil.

SHARK TOOTH WELDED CHAIN

2 SHARK TOOTH WELDED CHAIN 6 CUT
The welded shark tooth chain is a maintenance free low profile chain assembly. The carbide tipped shark tooth will outlast the chain. Tension adjustment is the only maintenance required. A great chain for digging hard rock, caliche, coral, and limestone.

ROCK & FROST CHAIN

    (CARBIDE TIPPED BULLET BITS)
1.654 PITCH ALL BOLT ON BULLET BIT CHAIN 4 CUT
The rock and frost chains are used on hard rocky conditions and frozen ground. This chain uses replaceable carbide tipped bullet bits to pick and fracture hard rock and frozen ground.

ALL BULLET H-PLATE CHAIN

2 PITCH ALL BULLET H PLATE CHAIN 6 CUT
Do you need a chain for digging in the toughest conditions? Use this chain in hard rocky conditions, frozen ground, asphalt, and concrete. The welded h-plate chain gives you the best bit penetration angle plus great trench clean out. This assembly has heavy-duty, heat-treated pockets and rock bits with pocket protectors.

How Long is a Chain?

The length of the chain is determined by
1.  The number of tooth attachment side plates.
2.  Or counting the number of chain pins and divide by 2.

TO INSURE YOU RECIEVE THE CORRECT CHAIN FOR YOUR TRENCHER, ALL CHAIN ORDERS MUST BE PHONED IN.
